Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and also holds the title of most powerful female officer in American history. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and elected again in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California, from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator she advocated healthcare reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. She is well-known for the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
