Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born March 4, 1954. O'Hara has won numerous prizes, including the Genie Award (a Golden Globe Award) as well as two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition, O'Hara was awarded six Canadian Screen Awards. She was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2018 and was honoured with the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award in 2020. O'Hara was first noticed as an actress in 1974 when she was she was a part of The Second City improvisational comedy troupe in Toronto. Alongside John Candy (1975-1978), she was part of the principal casting for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara began working with Candy on Second City Television's sketch comedy program (1976-1984). O'Hara was acknowledged for her stand-up comedy and writing skills, winning the Primetime Emmy Award of Outstanding Writing for Variety Series in 1981. O'Hara was named to the Second City artistic advisory panel in 2022 by Stephen Colbert.
